In accordance with the provisions of Article 25 of Decree 398/2006, of October 24th, approving the Regulation for the development of the Law 16/2005, of December 27th, of the geographic information and the Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya, the Cartographic Coordination Commission of Catalonia (C4) works in Plenary or in technical commissions because of the themes. The Plenary determines the creation of technical commissions, which will be formed by members of the C4 and, where applicable, by external people with recognized competence in the matters to be tackled. The C4 will be able to charge the technical commissions with the achievement of goals in relation with the matters within its scope.
In this legal framework, the C4, in its meeting nº 4 held on 20th December 2007, approved the creation of the Technical Commission in Geoinformation, with the mandate to monitor the work of the C4, discuss the technical questions arising from it and convey directly the contributions of the local entities that produce geographic information to the Cartographic Plan of Catalonia, under development. In the same way, and in this same legal framework, the C4, in its meeting nº 13 held on 19th December 2011, approved to extend the representation of the local world in the Technical Commission in Geoinformation (CT2:GI), incorporating representatives from the four Provincial Councils and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, modify its name by Technical Commission of Geographic Information of the Local Administration of Catalonia (CT2:IG ALC) and enlarge its functions to adapt it to the current reality, which will be:
