The Technical Commission of Geology and Geophysics, in its meeting nº 1 held on 2nd December 2015, aproved to create, among others, the Working Group of Geology and Geomorfology.

The functions assigned to this group are:

• Developing and proposing technical criteria that facilitate the coordination of the works related to geology and geomorfology to be carried out in Catalonia;
• Proposing rules and standards deemed appropriate for the implementation of activities in the fields of geology and geomorfology, and related disciplines;
• Developing proposals for the nomenclature and simbology to be used in the mapping of geology and geomorfology incorporating geothematic information;
• Promoting uniformity of criteria for the mapping of geology and geomorfology;

The Technical Commission of Geology and Geophysics, in its meeting nº 3 held on 13rd December 2017, aproved the extension of these functions, including the management and conservation of the geological heritage and, consequently, changing the name of the Working Group, which it is now known as Working Group on Geology, Geomorfology and Geological Heritage.
