The Technical Commission of Geology and Geophysics, in its meeting nº 1 held on 2nd December 2015, aproved to create, among others, the Working Group of Edafology.

The functions assigned to this group are:

• Developing and proposing technical criteria that facilitate the coordination of the soil works to be carried out in Catalonia;
• Proposing rules and standards deemed appropriate for the implementation of activities in the fields of pedology and related disciplines;
• Developing proposals for the nomenclature and simbology to be used in the mapping of soil incorporating geological information or, in general, geothematic information;
• Promoting uniformity of criteria for the mapping of soils;
